Porto is the second largest city in Portugal, located in the northwestern part of the country and facing the Douro River. The entire old town, which retains the history of various eras, has been designated as a World Heritage Site, and walking around the beautiful streets and magnificent bridges that span the river is a classic part of any trip.
On the opposite side of the Douro River from Porto is the city of Vila Nova de Gaia. The roofs of the wineries stretch out in a line, and the gondolas of the Teleférico de Gaia, a cable car that opened in 2011, pass by in the air. Enjoy the scenery that condenses the charm of this ancient city, from the old buildings that line both sides of the gently flowing river, to the riverside bustling with tourists, to the landmark tower.
