New Views! Geminids meteor shower, a winter nighttime tradition in Japan

New Views! 冬の夜の風物詩、ふたご座流星群を先取り

Shooting stars glow and disappear for a brief moment in the star-filled sky. The Gemini meteor shower, which colors the winter nights, has finally been added to Atmoph Window 2. These beautiful Views were filmed at Onigajo in Kumano, Mie Prefecture.

Onigajo is a stair-stepped castle formed by the uplift of a sea cave eroded by the waves of the Kumano Sea due to an earthquake. This scenic spot, with its unique rock formations stretching about 1.2 km, lets you enjoy powerful scenery created by nature. It is an old saying in Japan, "If you make a wish while a shooting star is shining, it will come true." It might be nice to try it tonight with a shooting star from your window.
